Rangers eased past Hearts 3-1 at Tynecastle Stadium and ensured that Celtic won’t be able to clinch the title tomorrow against Hibernian. Jermain Defoe, Ryan Jack and Nikola Katic were the scorers for the Gers, while Steven Maclean pulled one back for the home side later on.
The visitors were dominant from the first minute and eventually, the pressure paid off in the 15th minute. Jon Flanagan won the ball higher up for Glen Kamara to feed Defoe. The striker then slotted home the finish.
Hearts had a couple of chances to get back into the game but they were wasteful in the final third. They paid the price for that by conceding a second in the 36th minute.
Ryan Jack won the ball and followed up to get on the end of a Daniel Candeias’ pass to make to 2-0 to the Gers. The home side were caught out disputing a corner three minutes into the second half, and Candeias fed in a cross at the far post for an unmarked Katic to finish.
Allan McGregor then made two fine saves to keep his clean sheet intact. However, that was made dirty when Jack Mulraney’s cross found MacLean, who took his chance well.
All in all, it was a comfortable win for Rangers, who stay second in the table nine points behind Celtic, having played a game more.
