Dele Alli breaks silence over Pochettino sacking and thanks former manager

Dele Alli was the first Tottenham player to react to Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking

In a shocking move, after five and a half years at the helm, Mauricio Pochettino was sacked from his services at Tottenham last evening.

After the news of the Argentine’s exit, Dele Alli was the first player to break the silence on the recent development.

The England international, who has spent his entire Spurs career under Pochettino, extended his gratitude to the Argentine for his services.

In the aftermath of Pochettino’s departure, Alli took to Twitter to thank him for all Pochettino had done.

He tweeted saying, “I can’t thank this man enough. He’s taught me so much and I’m so grateful for everything he’s done for me. Good luck and hope to see you again my friend.”

Pochettino during his tenure has led the club to fifth, third, second, third and fourth-placed finishes in respective seasons.

That’s not to mention his greatest achievement – propelling them to last season’s Champions League final.

However, since the fairytale run in the Champions League, Tottenham’s form in 2019 witnessed a dramatic dip.

The North London club has managed to garner a total of 14 points in the 12 matches played so far.

Standing 14th, the team has been without a win in their last five matches. Still, nobody was expecting the sacking until chairman Daniel Levy made the big decision.

The Argentine’s assistant Jesus Perez, and coaches Miguel d’Agostino and Antoni Jimenez have also left the club.

What’s next for Spurs?

The ‘Special One’ signed a three-year contract and will shoulder hopes to take them to the next level after the departure of Pochettino.

The Portuguese was without a job following his sacking from Manchester United last December.

He has been working as a pundit for Sky Sports since leaving United and has been vocal about the ongoings at several clubs.
