Predicted Arsenal Line-up To Face Doncaster Rovers In The EFL Cup

Arsene Wenger’s men managed to take a point from their trip to the Stamford Bridge this weekend, as they take some confidence going into the rest of the season. They are back in action this mid-week as they take on Doncaster Rovers, a Professional Association outfit on Wednesday in the third round of the League Cup.

The Gunners will look to go all the way in every competition this season and have enough quality and depth to compete for this trophy. Wenger is expected to field a decent enough line-up, with enough quality to win his side the game.

Team News

Arsenal are without the services of Danny Welbeck who picked up an injury at the Bridge. He will be joined by Mesut Ozil, who will not be risked for this League Cup tie after missing the game against Chelsea. Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla remain absent while Theo Walcott, who picked up a niggle against Koln, is expected to be back in action. Forgotten defender Calum Chambers is back from an injury and is expected to feature for the Gunners.

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Manager: Arsene Wenger

GK – David Ospina

Giving Petr Cech some rest should be Ospina, who had a decent time in his previous outing, against FC Koln.

CB – Calum Chambers

The forgotten defender Chambers is back in training and is ready for first team action. Wenger should use him as a part of the backline in this tie.

CB – Per Mertesacker

The German international was solid when used earlier this season and Arsenal will hope that he can put in a solid performance yet again.

CB – Rob Holding

The young defender has done no harm to his reputation since moving to the Emirates and should be used on the left-hand side of the backline for Arsenal.

RWB – Mathieu Debuchy

The French star failed to make a move away from the club in the summer and Wenger has a chance to use him in his natural position on the flank this mid-week game.

CM – Mohamed Elneny

The Egyptian midfielder was decent when he came on against Chelsa and deserves to make a start against Doncaster.

CM – Jack Wilshere

The English midfielder being eased into the first team and this is the best chance for Wenger to test him in the middle of the park.

LWB– Ainsley Maitland-Niles

The youngster has been excellent whenever he’s been called upon and Wenger seems to trust him enough to use him as a left-wing back in this game.

RW – Theo Walcott

The English winger has not been able to hit the ground running this season and has failed to get into the first team. He should see this game as an opportunity to win back the trust of the manager.

LW – Reiss Nelson

Another youngster who deserves some first-team action, Nelson is expected to start in an attacking role on the left flank for the Gunners.

ST – Olivier Giroud

The French striker is still waiting for his chances in the first team in the league but he will get a chance to start this tie, acting as the experienced link in the attack.

Here is how Arsenal might line up:
