David Nugent To Lead The Line – Strongest 4-3-3 Derby County Line-Up To Face Rotherham

Predicted Derby County Lineup To Face Rotherham United

Derby County finish their rather transitional season in the Championship with a trip to the already relegated Rotherham United, knowing anything other than a resounding win will not do for their travelling fans.

Rotherham have not been up to Championship level this season and should be put to the sword here by a Derby team featuring a mixture of players playing for their Rams futures as well as looking to get a move to the Premier League.

Gary Rowett may well go 4-3-3 this time.

Probable Derby County XI:

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Gary Rowett

GK – Scott Carson

The former England ‘keeper has had a good long run in this team and can finish the season as no.1. Jonathan Mitchell will hope to make him sweat for his place after the summer.

RB – Chris Baird

The Northern Irishman has been solid at right-back since replacing Christie in the team and may line-up again.

CB – Richard Keogh

Has formed a good partnership this season with Pearce and will go again. The Rotherham forward line may not get much change from him this week.

CB – Alex Pearce

This should be a 40th league appearance of the season for the big defender. Should start alongside Richard Keogh.

LB – Marcus Olsson

The Swedish left-back has never quite fulfilled his potential but is Derby’s best option in this position.

CM – Craig Bryson

Former Kilmarnock midfielder Bryson is looking for just his 3rd goal of the campaign here. However, he offers plenty more with his play than just goals.

CM – Jacob Butterfield

Butterfield cost a fair amount when he was nabbed from Huddersfield Town two years ago and perhaps hasn’t lived up to expectations. However, he has the talent and may flourish under Rowett.

CM – Bradley Johnson

Capable of scoring plenty of goals at this level. It’ll be interesting to see whether he is allowed to bomb forward more in this formation.

RW – Tom Ince

The natural choice in this position, it remains to be seen whether or not this is Ince’s last game for the club.

LW – Johnny Russell

Much like the predicted midfield three, Russell is a player who is capable of scoring many more goals than he has for this club. Gary Rowett though is a definite admirer of his and he will be allowed to prove himself on the final day.

ST – David Nugent

Much like Chris Martin at Fulham (who actually belongs to Derby), Nugent’s main attribute is bringing fellow attackers into the game and allowing them to flourish, meaning that his personal tally of 6 goals in 16 league games is better than how it looks at first glance.
