Predicted Rangers Lineup To Face Hearts
Rangers look to have more or less tied up a top 3 place for this season and along with it, a chance to qualify for the Europa League next season. Pedro Caixinha will want to finish the season on a high though and will hope for another gritty (if more open) performance after his troops managed a tough 2-1 win at Partick last time.
Putting Hearts in their place is just as important to Rangers as playing Celtic, as they mustn’t forget that they need to ensure a gap is opened between them before going on to eventually challenge for the top spot once more. Caixinha will demand two home wins against Hearts and Aberdeen to finish off their Ibrox season and will pick an attacking lineup.
Probable Rangers Playing XI:
Formation: 4-4-1-1
Manager: Pedro Caixinha
GK – Wes Foderingham
The only choice in the eyes of Caixinha. It remains to be seen whether he will be no.1 next season but for now, his place is in no danger.
RB – James Tavernier
Tavernier needs to put in a strong display if his side is to have a chance of beating Hearts in what would be a statement well made if they did.
CB – David Bates
Surprise, surprise. Bates was reintroduced to the team at Partick and Rangers won. His record is excellent so far and he really is a Rangers great in the making.
CB – Danny Wilson
Playing against his former club here, Wilson should continue to partner the young man in central defence.
LB – Myles Beerman
It’s been such a pleasure to see youth reintroduced to the Rangers line-up and Beerman typifies that. The young left-back can carry on in the absence of Lee Wallace.
RM – Martyn Waghorn
Whether this is truly a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-2-3-1 of sorts, Waghorn should start on the right and use his ability to cut in onto his left foot.
CM – Jason Holt
Another former Hearts man in the Rangers team, Holt has been excellent once again and can continue to influence the midfield.
CM – Josh Windass
Played his part against Partick last time and may be given the chance to continue alongside Holt.
LM – Joe Dodoo
Although not the finished article, Dodoo clearly has the ability and can provide goals and assists, which ultimately win games.
SS – Kenny Miller
Whether playing in a deeper role or as a no.9, Miller just keeps going and is still producing the goods at this level. His fitness is never a worry and he can carry on until the end of the season.
ST – Joe Garner
A position Rangers really need to get right – finding a proper centre-forward. For now, the very popular Joe Garner can be trusted to at least test the Hearts defence. So with the right kind of support, he may get himself on the scoresheet.
