Danilo Luiz da Silva, mostly known as Danilo, is a professional Brazilian football player. He began his career by playing for America Mineiro and then moved to Santos. While he played with that team, he scored the goal for which the team was awarded the 2011 Copa Libertadores. During the same year, he won the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup and a silver medal for the 2012 Olympic Tournament. He moved to Porto in 2012, and he won the Primeira Liga Titles consecutively. Having drawn the attention, the team was signed by Real Madrid for £31.5 million in 2015.

Born in Bicas, Minas Gerais, he played football with Tupynambás Futebol Clube in his youth.  He also competed at senior level for the same team, and gained promotion in 2009. In 2010, he joined Santos FC, and played in two Serie A seasons for the club. In 2011, Danilo won the Campeonato Paulista. Danilo then joined Real Madrid in 2015, which bought him for £31.5 million for a six-year contract.
