Dale Stephens Starts – Strongest 4-4-1-1 Brighton Line-Up To Face Bristol City

Brighton and Hove Albion

Predicted Brighton And Hove Albion Lineup To Face Bristol City

By the time Brighton line-up at the Amex to face Bristol City, rivals Newcastle may well have closed the gap to just one point in the race for the Championship title.

Just a couple of games ago, Brighton were 7 points clear of the Magpies and looked to have wrapped up first place.  There may be some nerves in the Albion side for this one as a win would seal the title.

If Brighton can bring themselves to play freely, there shouldn’t be any worry. Chris Hughton will stick with a similar 4-4-1-1 to the one which played at Norwich, albeit with a change or two:

Possible Brighton XI:

Formation: 4-4-1-1

GK – David Stockdale

Fully deserving of his upcoming place in the Premier League, Stockdale will be a target for other clubs in the summer but for now, he is vital to Brighton’s cause.

RB – Bruno Saltor

40 league games already for the 36-year-old Spaniard at right-back and he will continue to be trusted to see out Brighton’s season in the right fashion.

CB – Uwe Hunemeier

This would be only the 11th league appearance of the season for the German, though he is unlikely to let anyone down.

CB – Lewis Dunk

A mainstay of the Brighton side and undoubtedly a Premier League player, Dunk has been solid and consistent once again this season and will also be a danger while going forward at set-pieces.

LB – Sebastien Pocognoli

The Belgian left-back would only be playing his 20th game of a rather interrupted season but will get his chance to bag the second goal of the season in what may need to be an attacking display.

Dale Stephens

RM – Anthony Knockaert

Widely regarded as Brighton’s best player, Knockaert will need to be at his flashy best to create the chances for the home side which could end the title race.

CM – Dale Stephens

Replaced Norwood at Carrow Road last time and may get the nod to start the game in this one.

CM – Steve Sidwell

Once very highly thought of at Premier League level, the midfielder will want to play his part in his current club getting there.

LM – Solly March

3 goals in the league for the winger this season and he could make a handy contribution again. Should start on the left flank.

SS – Jamie Murphy

He may not be prolific, but Murphy can be handy in behind the striker and may get the call again. A goal or two from him will serve as a huge boost for Brighton.

ST – Glenn Murray

The veteran striker has had a good year and will want to finish his home season on a goal scoring high. Expect him to be sharp for this all-important tie.
