Crystal Palace would fix their leaky backline if they sign this 21-year-old starring in the Championship

Crystal Palace opinion – Palace want Ezri Konsa – Good Move?

According to a report in the Sun, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Brentford centre-back Ezri Konsa. The 21-year-old has impressed in the Championship this season and he could be allowed to leave in the summer transfer window.

Konsa was targeted by Arsenal in the last window, but the move didn’t happen. Hodgson’s men, on the other hand, want an extra defender for their squad. (h/t Sun)

The 21-year-old is valued around £15m and Brentford could sell him in the transfer window. Here’s why Palace should pay this amount and sign the defender:

Palace could do with one more quality defender

Crystal Palace have been a defensively organized side, not giving much to the opposition. They have conceded only 46 goals in 34 games, which is pretty decent for a team that is aiming to stay in the Premier League.

The Eagles have Mamadou Sakho, Martin Kelly, Scott Dann, and James Tomkins as options for the centre-back position. However, they would do well by getting a player ahead of next season.

It is partly because Dann has been injury-prone and Kelly is not an out-and-out centre-back.

Hence, signing Ezri Konsa would be ideal for them. The 21-year-old is a centre-back, who can play at right-back and occasionally in defensive midfield. He has had a great season for Brentford and should do well at Selhurst Park.

Conclusion

Palace are all but safe this season, but improving the squad should be their agenda ahead of next season. Adding Konsa would certainly be a step in that direction.
