Crystal Palace Opinion: Eagles in for Kemar Roofe – Good Move?
Roofe, who has only 12 months of contract remaining at Elland Road, could well be on his way out of the club if Leeds do not manage to tie him down to a new deal. The solution is to sell him for some money now, or make him sign an extension before he becomes a free agent.
With a host of Premier League clubs interested, one could anticipate a player’s ambitions to move up from the Championship to play top-flight football.
Here’s why Crystal Palace should beat others in this competition to try and sign Roofe this summer:
Palace are in need of ruthlessness up front
Kemar Roofe is predominantly a centre-forward who can play as a winger on either side or as an attacking midfielder if required during the course of a season.
Talking about his performances in the 2018/19 campaign, the 26-year-old did have injury issues but managed to play 33 league games including the playoffs, scored 14 goals and assisted two.
In terms of attributes, Roofe is one of those players who prefers to run the channels, make runs in behind to stretch the defence. He is good on the ball, is physically strong and very ruthless in terms of finishing off the chances in and around the opposition box.
So Crystal Palace, who have struggled for a prolific centre-forward for some time now, should do everything in their might to sign Kemar Roofe ahead of next season.
