Crystal Palace signing this Liverpool sensation on loan could be a win-win for all parties and here’s why

Why Crystal Palace should sign Rhian Brewster on loan from Liverpool

According to Sun, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster on loan when the transfer window reopens in January.

Rhian Brewster, 19, has struggled to cement a first-team spot under Jurgen Klopp this season. A temporary switch elsewhere would help him play more often and gain experience.

The teenager has started both Carabao Cup victories this season, against MK Dons and Arsenal, but is yet to get a taste of the Premier League.

The report states that the striker is also being tracked by Championship duo Swansea and Bristol City, while teams in Germany are also keen on signing him on a short-term basis.

Klopp will have to make a decision on whether to send him out on loan or keep hold of him as Liverpool are competing for multiple trophies this term.

However, Crystal Palace should do everything possible to persuade Liverpool into loaning Brewster for the second half of this season.

Palace’s biggest problem has been scoring goals for the last few campaigns and that remains unchanged this time around as well. Even though Jordan Ayew has been a revelation, following his permanent transfer from Swansea City in the summer, the Eagles lack a prolific goalscorer who can guarantee 15-20 goals a season.

Wilfried Zaha, who has been the club’s talismanic figure over the last few years, has found it difficult to influence games. Surprisingly, he is yet to break his season’s duck and has been a peripheral figure at times.

Besides Zaha, Ayew and Andros Townsend, Roy Hodgson doesn’t have too much quality and depth in his forward department. Christian Benteke has looked woefully out of depth, while Connor Wickham’s career has been riddled with injuries.

Palace reaped rich rewards by signing Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea in the second half of last season and they can do the same with Rhian Brewster.

More Crystal Palace News

Brewster has been in the limelight since picking up the Golden Boot when England won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.

He did suffer a serious knee injury last year but has recovered and is currently fighting for his place in Klopp’s starting XI. With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino ahead of him, there’s no way the 19-year-old is going to get regular game time at Liverpool.

Verdict

Thus, sending Brewster out on loan would be a sensible decision by Klopp and a move to Palace will be great for all parties involved.
