Why Crystal Palace should do everything to hold onto Aaron Wan-Bissaka

After making a decent start to their season, Crystal Palace have now been in very poor form over the last few weeks. The Eagles are on the back of another loss, against Tottenham Hotspur, and they have to find a way to navigate through their tough run of fixtures.

According to the Mirror, Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been attracting attention from Manchester City over the past few days. There are also other clubs interested in his services after the defender’s meteoric rise.

The 20-year-old signed a new four-year contract in the summer, which should essentially keep him at the club until 2022. But the Eagles should do everything in their power to hold onto their prized asset.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

They have conceded a total of 17 goals in 12 games this season and Aaron Wan-Bissaka has looked the brightest in their backline. He is defensively diligent and times his runs well. The 20-year-old loves to maraud forward and is also a hard man to beat at the back.

What makes him such an exciting prospect is his undying attitude. Wan-Bissaka has made a total of 45 tackles so far, averaging a tackle success rate of 69%. He has also made a total of 59 recoveries. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

The youngster has also dealt with the one-vs-one situations well, winning a total of 97 duels against the opposition. The 20-year-old’s ability to charge forward has also seen him provide 1 assist in his 11 appearances this season. He has committed no errors leading to goals. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

Though he is not yet the polished, fine-tuned product, he has shown immense maturity and growth at the tender age of 20. The youngster is yet to make his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad but there’s no doubt he will get there soon.

Crystal Palace should ensure they hold onto Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The only other option they have at right-back at the moment is Martin Kelly and he hasn’t been as great as Wan-Bissaka.

The Eagles sit above the relegation zone only on goal difference and certainly need their best players this season. They are conceding goals at an alarming rate this season and it is absolutely vital they hold onto the young full-back.
