Crystal Palace making a move for this £15m on-loan starlet would be a terrific step by Hodgson

Crystal Palace opinion: Should the Eagles move for Oliver Burke?

The Birmingham Live has revealed that Crystal Palace have joined the race for on-loan West Brom star Oliver Burke.

The young forward has been in fine form for Celtic since signing for them in the winter window, scoring four goals and creating three goals in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership side.

This form has seen the Eagles see him as a potential player who could do great things for them and the Birmingham Live has further reported that he has no future with the Baggies.

Despite the club signing him from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2017, Burke has only made 18 appearances in his first season and three in his second.

The Daily Record has further revealed that Palace’s Director of Football Dougie Fredman regards the former RB Leipzig star very highly. Signed by the Baggies for £15million (Guardian) in the summer of 2017 less than a year after he joined RB Leipzig, Burke’s future was bright.

Tall, strong and very quick off the mark, the young forward has everything at his disposal to succeed. But he has struggled to find consistency at Leipzig and at the Hawthorns.

However, what really sets apart Oliver Burke from the rest and what makes him close to perfect for Crystal Palace is his work ethic.

Very hardworking, the 22-year-old has done well when played anywhere across the front-line, doing his share defensively too. Assured technical ability combined with his physical and athletic attributes make him an unpredictable player.

A move would do Palace wonders as they need another winger to help bulk up the competition.

At the moment, both Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend simply waltz into the team as manager Roy Hodgson has no one else. Bakary Sako is there but his presence is merely metaphysical.

He’s struggled with a wide range of injuries, which has set back the progress he made over the last few years. But to make things worse, he has a six-month deal with the Eagles and is 30 years old.

Conclusion

Oliver Burke is incredibly talented but needs direction and he needs to find his shooting boots once again. While he has done it at Celtic so far, the 21-year-old needs to do it permanently and a club like Crystal Palace is the perfect place for him to get back on track. For the Eagles too, they need competition and Burke is a player who can do that.
