Crystal Palace can bag a coup if they beat Everton to sign this talented 22-year-old Serbian starlet

Why Crystal Palace must beat Everton to sign Andrija Zivkovic in January

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Everton are interested in Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic. The Serbian has become one of the top talents in Portugal since joining Benfica from Partizan Belgrade back in 2016. So far, Andrija Zivkovic has scored four times in 58 appearances for Benfica.

The 22-year-old has played just five times in the league for Benfica this season, with all five of those appearances coming from the bench. Despite not making much of an impact, he has already caught the attention of Everton, but Crystal Palace should rival the Merseyside club for the player’s signature in January.

Crystal Palace’s poor start to the new season sees them just two places above the relegation zone. The Eagles did make some exciting signings in the summer transfer window but none of them has made a significant impact so far this campaign.

They have been inconsistent for good parts of the 2018/19 season and Roy Hodgson needs a player who can make an immediate impact on the team’s result.

That difference maker for Crystal Palace could be Benfica star Andrija Zivkovic and Roy Hodgson should try signing in the high-flying attacker in January.

The ability to create something out of nothing is what the Eagles have missed so far this season as they are too reliant on building every attack from the wide areas. Zivkovic is a player who is adept at playing on either flank or through the middle but he is most dangerous from the right flank when he cuts inside on his left and goes for a pop on goal.

The young Serb has the ability to create something out of nothing at any moment and he can be a major creative influence on the pitch for the Eagles.

The 22-year-old is an excellent crosser of the ball that could be a treat for the likes of Christian Benteke, Alexander Sorloth and Jordan Ayew in the box.

Add to his vision, creativity and agility, Zivkovic’s work rate is phenomenal as he tracks back to help his team defend when required.

Such qualities make him fit into Hodgson’s style of play at Crystal Palace. Zivkovic playing alongside the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend, Max Meyer and Jordan Ayew, means Palace’s attack would carry more pace and unpredictability in the final third.

Hence, in a tight league battle, Hodgson needs to add firepower in January and who knows, Zivkovic might make an instant impact which might endear him to the Selhurst Park faithful. And moreover, he might just help Palace escape relegation from the Premier League.
