Could This Italian Enforcer Be The Solution For Manchester United’s Midfield Woes?

With David Moyes taking over the club in summer, his shoulder will be burdened with loads of expectations. And there is no point to believe that Moyes will be changing the philosophy and the style of play that Ferguson has set in the team and thus we can all expect some more years of wing play from this side. Now United are a side with players like Nani, Anderson and Young who are not the best in business and Moyes will have his task cut out to replace them. One of the players that United have been monitoring for a long time is Claudio Marchisio of Juventus who can be rock solid in the central midfield where United have struggled in recent years. Here are three reasons as to why United should go for the Italian in the summer transfer window.

Style of play– Marchisio is a player who has a great sense of judgement, precise passing and definitive skills. He has been one of the main reasons why Juventus have controlled matches so effortlessly in the Seria A. His partnership with Carrick will be treat to watch as both these player can complement each other with their decision making, their pace setting nature and maturity. United, who depend on the pressure play many a times, would love to have a player like him in their central midfield.

Adaptability– Marchisio is a kind of player who can wear many hats in the team. Before Pogba burst into the scene he was deployed mainly as a central midfielder, which is his original position. But since Pogba, Conte has moved him to a more forward role. He has handled his new role with panache and added a new dimension in the Juventus midfield. This kind a player is the call of the hour for United who have been guilty of lacking a Plan B sometimes.

Price– Although he would not come cheap to United, but £ 20m is not a sky high price, especially when we compare his fee to United’s other targets. If Moyes can get hold of this player for this sum, it would certainly one of the biggest bargains of the summer and Marchisio would add a flair to the United team which was long carved for.
