With an almost second string team that played Inter had to wait till the second half to break Verona’s back line, however a quick fire two goals in the space of 4 minutes was enough to book the place in the Quarters.
Antonio Cassano was the opening goal scorer when he took the pass from Fredy Guarin and broke Rafael’s goal in the 50th minute. Four minutes later, Guarin scored with a free kick that deflected in off Verona’s wall at the San Siro. From there it just got too easy for the home side. However, Inter ended the match with 10 men as goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi was carried off on a stretcher with an injury. Inter had used all the three substitutions and played the final 10 mintues with a man down.

Holders Napoli hosted Bologna last night only to crash out after a shock defeat. Napoli went ahead through Edison Cavani who scored just after 12 minutes thanks to some excellent work from Goran Pandev to set up the goal. However the home team could not capitalize on their advantage and eventually gave away the lead when a cross was flicked on for the unmarked Cristian Pasquato, who cut back in on to his left foot to beat Andrea Dossena.
With neither side unable to produce the winning goal, the match was thought to be heading towards extra time  and just like heroics last week, Panagiotis Kone netted in the 91st minute to snatch the winner for Bologna.
