Coleman To Field An Unchanged XI – Strongest 5-3-2 Sunderland Line-Up To Face Sheffield United

Predicted Sunderland Line-up To Face Sheffield United In EFL Championship

Sunderland will hope ok to extend their unbeaten run to four games when they face off against Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

The Black Cats sit 22nd in the EFL Championship table halfway through the season but come into the game having not tasted defeat in the last three games. This past weekend, they were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow strugglers Birmingham City and manager Chris Coleman will be hoping that his side go one better during the midweek and claim all three points against the Blades.

Team News

Sunderland midfielder Darron Gibson has a groin injury. Manager Coleman took him off late against Birmingham on Saturday in a bid to manage the problem and it remains to be seen if he will be involved. Didier Ndong could step up, while Lee Cattermole is available despite being left out against City. Bryan Oviedo (knee) was on the bench on Saturday and could play a part.

Here’s how the Wearsiders could line up against Chris Wilder’s men on Tuesday:

Manager: Chris Coleman

Formation: 5-3-2

Robbin Ruiter (GK)

The 30-year old Dutch goalkeeper should continue between the sticks for the Black Cats against Sheffield United.

Donald Love (RB)

The 23-year old former Manchester United man will take his spot on the right-hand side of the defence at the Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

Tyias Browning (CB)

The defender, on loan from Premier League club Everton, should be all set to make his 16th Championship appearance of the season for his temporary side.

John O’Shea

John O’Shea (CB)

The veteran defender will need to be at his best in the heart of the defence, for Sunderland to spark a revival and get out of the bottom zone.

Marc Wilson(CB)

The 30-year old former Bournemouth man should continue to occupy the third centre-half slot for Coleman’s side on Tuesday.

Adam Matthews (LB)

The Welshman has been used as the left-back in the last three games and that is unlikely to change for Tuesday’s clash.

Lynden Gooch (CM)

The 22-year old midfielder should occupy one of the three midfield positions for the Wearside outfit against the Blades.

Lee Cattermole (CM)

With Darron Gibson a doubt due to injury, Coleman could call upon the experience of Lee Cattermole to steady the midfield.

Lewis Grabban

George Honeyman (CM)

The midfield trio should be completed by the 23-year old George Honeyman. Has scored thrice in 21 Championship appearances and will want to add to it.

Lewis Grabban (ST)

The former Bournemouth man will start at the top of the attack for the Black Cats. Scored over the weekend and will want to build on it.

James Vaughan (ST)

Partnering Grabban in the attack should be 29-year old James Vaughan. Has managed to score just twice this season and needs to improve his returns significantly.
