“Clear out the deadwood”, “In tears”: Some Man Utd fans react woefully to 2-0 loss to West Ham + Match Report

Manchester United vs West Ham report: Manchester United match report

Andriy Yarmolenko and a superb Aaron Cresswell free-kick put Manchester United to the sword as West Ham moved to fourth in the Premier League with a well-deserved 2-0 victory on Sunday.

It was a toothless and gutless performance from United, who lost Marcus Rashford to injury with no main striker able to lead the line.

West Ham started the match in fine form, pressing forward with United’s defence having to put a lot of work into their game. The match was 50/50 getting close to the end of the first half before the hosts took the lead.

It was no surprise when Andriy Yarmolenko got his second goal in as many games, bringing down a lovely chipped pass from Felipe Anderson and placing the ball into the corner past the helpless De Gea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered a huge blow in the second half when Marcus Rashford was forced off with a muscle injury, leaving them with no recognisable striker.

However, United started the second half strongly and should have equalised through Juan Mata, who somehow missed the open goal from close range after Pereira played the ball into the box.

Harry Maguire then missed a golden chance to level the score when he struck straight at Lukasz Fabianski from close range. And West Ham compounded more misery on Solskjaer when six minutes from time, Cresswell bent a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner to seal an impressive victory at the London Stadium.
