Ryan Christie turned out to be the hero as Celtic made it a magnificent seven successive trophy wins with a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park.
Christie, who had two spells on loan at the Pittodrie club prior to this season, scored at the stroke of half-time and it later proved to be the winner.
Aberdeen huffed and puffed in the second half as they pushed for an equaliser but in the end, it just wasn’t to be.
Denied Andy Considine in the first half and saved by his own crossbar from Simunovic’s awful clearance. Also kept out a James Wilson effort in the second half.
Lustig was decent with his passing as he tends to keep things simple. Tested Lewis with a rasping long-range drive.
Had a nasty clash of heads with Mackay-Steven but soldiered on to play out a wonderful pass which opened up Aberdeen for Celtic’s opener. Defended extremely well before making way for Simunovic.
Set the tone of the game with a thunderous challenge on Cosgrove. Benkovic was composed in possession and tested Lewis with a long-range shot.
Not his usual best as he looked a bit tired. However, Tierney kept things simple at the back.
Controlled the tempo of the game with his passing abilities. Carried out his duties in a disciplined manner from the middle of the park.
Timed his run to perfection for the opener which turned out to be the winner. Booked for a foul on Shinnie early in the second period.
Picked up a booking for a challenge on Max Lowe. Dragged an effort wide in the first half. Wasn’t at his sublime best.
Clipped the outside of the post with an effort from the edge of the box. Offered creativity in the final third before making way for Scott Brown.
Saw his penalty saved by Joe Lewis in the second half. Fluffed his lines when put through by McGregor.
Did well to lure the Aberdeen defenders out of their positions on a number of occasions. Worked extremely hard but was wasteful.
Replaced Boyata at the hour mark and almost made an impact, an attempted clearance which clipped his own crossbar.
Replaced Rogic and added energy to the engine room.
Came on in the final minutes to shore up the midfield.
