Chelsea vs Lille prediction: Chelsea line-up

Chelsea host French outfit Lille on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge in a crucial encounter. The Blues know a win could take them to the next stage.

Frank Lampard’s men have not been consistent despite having a good run of form in the last two months. They have just one win in the last five games in all competitions and seem to lack the intensity. The loss to Everton at the weekend was something no one expected.

Meanwhile, Lille, after a bad spell look to have regained their form and are pushing for a second place in Ligue 1 behind runaway leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Chelsea look to be the favourites heading into the game and the Blues would be hoping to cross the line with ease.

Team News

Lampard has almost all of his first-team members available at his disposal except for Antonio Rudiger, who has been out for a long time with a groin injury.

Marco Van Ginkel and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also in their recovery process and are expected to be out for a while.

Probable Chelsea XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK)

The Spaniard did not have the best of games against Everton, where the Blues conceded 3 goals. He is the first-choice in goal and would start for sue.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)

The experienced campaigner will be leading the team. Despite Reece James hitting top form of late, Azpilicueta should get the nod ahead of the youngster.

Kurt Zouma (CB)

Zouma had a poor game at the weekend and was at fault for Everton’s second goal. Given Rudiger’s injury, the Frenchman would retain his spot

Fikayo Tomori (Getty Images)

Fikayo Tomori (CB)

Tomori was left on the bench against the Toffees and was behind Andreas Christensen in the pecking order. He has improved a lot this season and is expected to start ahead of the Dane.

Emerson (LB)

He is expected to come back to the starting line-up after being benched in their last outing. The Italian has been impressive so far whenever he got his opportunities.

N’Golo Kante (RCM)

The World Cup winner is the key to their attack. Despite the teams’ loss, Kante was at his usual best against Everton. He would be expected to play a decisive role on Tuesday.

Jorginho (CDM)

Jorginho has taken his game to the next level and has made a difference for Lampard. He is expected to play the holding role and keep out the opponent’s attack. He would start for sure.

Mateo Kovacic (LCM)

The Croatian has added goals of late to his transformed game this season. He would be an undoubted starter in the three-man midfield.

Willian (RW)

Though he has not been too productive, his experience and ability to break open defences would be helpful for the team. He is expected to start ahead of other youngsters.

Christian Pulisic (LW)

Pulisic initially felt the heat by never making it further than the bench. But his recent performances have allowed Lampard to trust in him. He is expected to start ahead of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Tammy Abraham (ST)

He would be the lone striker and would be hoping to add to his impressive goalscoring record this season.
