Chelsea Transfers – Jose Mourinho To Go Against Abramovich’s Policies?

Premier League, 32, Eto'o

Amid all the speculations that Jose Mourinho is trying to bring his former player Samuel Eto’o to Chelsea, the striker himself has stated that he would love to play under the Portuguese manager. Chelsea have not progressed very far in their pursuit of Wayne Rooney as Manchester United remain adamant on their stance that the forward is not for sale. Under these circumstances, Mourinho is trying to get the services of the player who once served under him at Inter Milan. His current club Anzhi are trying to offload the player for financial constraints and Chelsea may thus expect to get him for a cut price. His staggering salary of £17m would certainly be a bother.

“There is only one Jose Mourinho. I have played under a lot of great coaches – but there is no other character in the game like Jose,” Eto’o mentioned.  “He is one of the best coaches in the world – and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again – because it is never boring when Jose is around. Of course Chelsea are a great team – and when we have all the offers on the table then I will discuss with my agent and see what my next step is.”

Although, this deal would be against the youth policy of Roman Abramovich, Eto’o has been a consistent performer at some of the highest leagues across Europe and this may convince Roman to change his mind. With Lukaku around, this would end up being a mix of youth and experience. But the real question is, where does this leave Torres? At 32, and with zero Premier League experience, can Eto’o deliver?

In other news, David Luiz has refused to open his mouth about the speculations linking him to Barcelona. The Catalan club has already made a first bid, which has been rejected by Chelsea, but reports say that a second bid is very much around the corner.

But Luiz seems to be unmoved about all the rumours and has opted not to speak about them. Right now Luiz is in Basel where Brazil are set to play Switzerland and he has snubbed all sorts of questions there about his potential Barcelona move.

“I will only talk about the national team because this is all I can think about when I come here, that’s how I think. It was like this in Brazil during the Confederations Cup, and it will be like this here. You (press) can try everything, but you won’t get anything from me.”, was all he had to offer.
