Chelsea Transfers: £40m Could See Brazilian’s Exit As Mourinho Targets Another Brazilian

Bayern Munich are in a £40m raid for David Luiz

The Sun reports that Bayern Munich are ready to offer £40million for Chelsea’s David Luiz. After a rock solid season with the Blues last year, David Luiz was subject to speculations that he could be involved in a swap deal which will bring in Rooney to the Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho was quick to settle matters as he insisted that Luiz is a big part of his plans.

However, Pep Guardiola is alleged to break the Blues resistance with a lucrative £40m offer for the Brazilian. David Luiz who was brought in from Benfica two years ago for £21m has been one of the most improved defender in the League and a 4-2 defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund has certainly alarmed the former Barcelona coach on what’s in-store for him in the Bundesliga in the coming season. Although the likes of Dante and Boateng cannot be overlooked, bringing in Luiz will only add strength to the depth of the squad.
Sun quotes that an insider revealed: “The performance exposed some weaknesses that Pep believes could be sorted out by bringing in Luiz.”
Not sure about the credibility of the source, but according to Tuttomercatoweb.com, and reported by the Express, Jose Mourinho is apparently looking for David Luiz’ alternatives and has his eye on Roma defender Leandro Castan.
So if Mourinho is looking to bring in Castan from Roma, is Luiz heading out? Of course there are other aspects to look into as Roma would hesitate to sell another centre-back having already lost Marquinhos to PSG this summer.
In other news, Chelsea’s Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic talks about the upcoming season and is looking forward to their clash against reigning champions Manchester United.
Ivanovic talking to the press in Jakarta during the club’s pre-season tour, said:

“We go to United very early and one of the important things with that game is we will see how we can play the season. It’s not just about that game, or the three points, it will be very important mentally for us and our confidence.“Of course, if we win we can intimidate them. This can be psychologically a very difficult game and if we can go there and win it would be massive for us, have a huge effect on our confidence and make things feel different. But, even if we lose, we mustn’t feel we need to change a lot of things in our heads. The season is long.”
