Chelsea Team News And Injury Updates Ahead Of The Maccabi Clash

Jose Mourinho

There are no fresh injury concerns for Jose Mourinho to worry about ahead of tonight’s Champions League Group G clash against Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Blues are still without first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is suffering from a knee injury and striker Radamel Falcao remains out. The pair is expected to return to first team trainign at the end of Next month.

Chelsea squad to be available for the game: Begovic, Ivanovic, Fabregas, Zouma, Rahman, Ramires, Oscar, Hazard, Mikel, Traore, Kenedy, Pedro, Remy, Costa, Matic, Willian, Cahill, Terry, Blackman, Azpilicueta, Loftus-Cheek.

Jose Mourinho might make few changes from the squad which beat Norwich last Saturday. Talking to the press ahead of the game, Mourinho said;

“We are very disappointed with the bad results we had for a significant period of time,” said the Chelsea boss. “We need to keep getting results for our happiness, pride and fans.

“[…] We haven’t qualified yet but we are OK. Everything is in our hands. If we play like we have been doing, we can win.

“It’s simple. If we lose, we are in trouble. If we draw, we can qualify in the last game. If we win, great chance to finish first.”

Mourinho is also predicting his team can go far in the Champions League this season, despite not playing with the same authority we saw from them in 2014/15.

“When I won [the Champions League] twice with Porto and Inter [Milan] we were far from favourites,” he said.

“We were not even top 10 favourites. When Chelsea won [in 2012], it was a very bad season they had, and they won it. So we know the Champions League has these big doses of unpredictability.”
