Chelsea Target Omitted From First Team Squad, Rising Speculations Of A Possible Transfer

Daniele De Rossi’s omission from Roma squad fuels speculations of a possible Chelsea transfer

The Independent reports that, Italian side Roma have left their vice-captain Daniele De Rossi off their squad list for their pre-season training camp in Riscone, fuelling rumours that he is set for an £11m switch to Chelsea. Further it is also claimed that De Rossi will issue a statement later this week which will reveal the midfielder’s future.

Throughout the course of this summer, Roma’s Italian midfielder have been linked up with a move to Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho who has been a long time admirer of De Rossi, having tried to sign him for both Inter Milan and Real Madrid, is the Portuguese manager finally destined to sign his long term target?

Although Chelsea have Marko van Ginkel to compete with Mikel and Ramires, the addition of Rossi would definitely add steel to the Blues midfield, which has been missing off late. While there still are questions left to be answered in the deal, Chelsea fans would welcome Rossi with both hands as his experience, work ethic and leadership skills would help the club’s youngsters to groom into matured footballers.

Other latest news surrounding the Blues:

Chelsea youngster Wallace has joined Inter Milan on a one year loan spell to get first team football, which would have been scarce at the London side.

The 19 year old right-back who joined Chelsea last December, but chose to remain with his club Fluminense, has passed his medical and will stay at the Italian club till next June. So far he has played just once for Chelsea during their pre season match against Singha All Stars which the Premier League side won 1-0.

And former England international Michael Owen has named his favourites for this year’s Premier League title to be Chelsea. Owen is willing to put his money on the London outfit and has mentioned Jose Mourinho as the sole factor for Chelsea being the favourites.

“Chelsea are my favourites to win the league irrespective of transfer activity. The return of Jose Mourinho has transformed the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge. Mourinho has never lost at home in the Premier League and the ‘Special One’ thoroughly deserves his self-appointed title.”, is what Owen had to say in an interview to Daily Mail.

This would be Mourinho’s second stint as Chelsea manager after the hugely successful three year spell between 2004-07. During that time he tasted Premier League success twice and the FA Cup once. After spending five seasons in Italy and Spain, the Portuguese manager is back at the helm of things at Stamford Bridge amid the jubilation among the supporters and the fans.

Mourinho has always stated Chelsea as his preferred destination and speculations were ripe after his statements towards the end of the season when he mentioned that he would go back to a club which he had previously managed. Chelsea, in the meantime, made it clear that Rafa Benitez would be let gone at the end of the season irrespective of the amount of success. Thus Mourinho took over the team at the beginning of the new season and now the fans and the management would be looking forward to him for repeating his success.
