According to a report in Sun, Premier League giants Chelsea are planning a £50m swoop for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani. Blues manager Maurizio Sarri is desperate to bolster his attacking line, especially the goal-scoring department before the transfer window shuts.
As per the report, there have been talks going on about a possible swap deal where Alvaro Morata will go to AC Milan in exchange for Gonzalo Higuain. However, that has not stopped the latest updates on Cavani being linked with a move to the Stamford Bridge.
The Uruguayan striker has been one of the most consistent players in the European circuit for the past few years now. In a PSG team full of superstars like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, the 31-year-old has done well to score his quota of goals.

If we take a look at the league stats of this season, the two Chelsea strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have scored a combined of six goals in 16 appearances each. Hence, out of the 38 goals netted by the Blues this campaign, the duo has put in one-sixth of it.
That really makes the case for this club to look for a new striker in the transfer window. The Blues are even slipping a bit in the race for a top-four finish with the lack of a lethal goal-scorer, let alone being in touch with either of Liverpool or Manchester City.
It is pretty evident now that Morata won’t really improve in the next months, having been in a rough patch ever since he arrived in the summer of 2017. Thus, the club needs to do everything to get someone like Cavani over the line as he can be a good attack partner to Eden Hazard.
