Why Chelsea should go all out to sign Milan Skriniar
Chelsea haven’t had the best of starts but it was always going to be a difficult season with a new manager, a transfer ban and losing Eden Hazard in the same summer. One of the problems that the Chelsea hero has had trouble with is the fact that the Blues continue to ship goals.
The form of some of their backline hasn’t been great and that has been compounded by a midfield that is quite light-weight.
They need to definitely make reinforcements in those areas and one player who they were linked with in the past and would be a great addition is Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.
The 24-year-old powerhouse would’ve been someone former manager Maurizio Sarri would’ve known all about as he’s made a great rise since his move from Sampdoria.
The Slovakian is a very dominant centre-back and has still got a lot to learn. He has been one of Inter Milan’s stand out players in the last two seasons.
He’s dominant in the air, welcomes a 1 on 1 match up and is extremely aggressive in his duels and a real throwback with his no-nonsense style of defending by putting his body on the line with every challenge.
He’s also a real leader as he’s very vocal and can be seen constantly barking orders, which will rub off on his teammates.
He’s also very comfortable with the ball at his feet, playing line-breaking passes and loves a dribble in his own half to break a high-press from the opposition. This is very important as Frank Lampard’s side have clearly got some traits from Sarri on this current squad.
He can also play as a defensive midfielder and right-back. He has played as a midfielder quite often for his national team.
If Frank Lampard ever chooses to go back to a 3-man backline, which worked so well for the Blues under Antonio Conte, Skriniar has many good attributes to play on either side as the third centre-back
