Chelsea Pushing Hard To Seal A Deal For This Oscar Replacement

Chelsea January Transfers

That is according to the recent reports, which says the Premier League leaders are currently in negotiations with Atalanta for the Franck Kessié.

But Chelsea could decide to look elsewhere as they are reportedly reluctant to meet the Serie A side’s £30million asking price.

Antonio Conte is looking to bring in another midfielder this month to replace Oscar, who left for Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG in a £60 million deal.

Conte is a huge admirer of the Ivory Coast midfielder and would be keen for the player to join Chelsea during this transfer window but there is an acceptance that Atalanta will want to keep him until the end of the current campaign.

Atalanta are holding out for up to €35m-€40m (£30m-£34m) for Kessié, who spent last season on loan at Cesena but has become a key player for the Italian outfit this campaign. The 20-year-old has scored six goals in 16 appearances as Atalanta have moved up the table to sixth in Serie A, only three points behind third‑placed Napoli. Losing Kessié now would be a big blow to their hopes of qualifying for Europe.

He is seen as someone who would fit perfectly in Conte’s system, as he is dynamic on the ball, a hard worker off it and blessed with superior athleticism.

Speaking at the end of December, agent George Atangana revealed that a number of Premier league clubs are chasing him.

Kessie has been linked with a clutch of Premier League sides, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur even reported to have lodged bids for the defensively minded midfielder. The midfielder is under contract with the Italian side until 2021.
