Chelsea Player Ratings Vs. West Brom – Spanish Beast Does It Again

Chelsea ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over West Bromwich Albion, the score line seemed quite close but when the chances were compared, there was a wide gulf between the two teams. Chelsea extended their lead and kept their unbeaten run going in the Premier League thanks to goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.

They could have scored a few more goals but Ben Foster for West Bromwich Albion was on form today, doing very well to keep the losing margin for West Brom respectable, the English international goal keeper was probably the best player for West Bromwich Albion, if not the man of the match for this outstanding performance.

West Brom also had a player sent off in the first half, Argentine midfielder Claudio Yacob was sent off after 29 minutes for a two footed tackle on Diego Costa.

Here are the player ratings for the Chelsea team from the game at Stamford Bridge:

Thibaut Courtois: 5/10

The Belgian didn’t really have much to do and would love to have more days like this in between the sticks for Chelsea. West Brom didn’t really trouble the keeper throughout the game and was by far the less busier of the keepers.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 6/10

Again didn’t really face much of a threat from West Bromwich Albion. Cesar did well with what little he had to do and provided decent support down the left flank.

Gary Cahill: 7/10

A normal day at the office for Gary and Terry, who both didn’t really have much to do apart from the odd ball being played to them, did well to keep West Brom quiet.

John Terry: 7/10

Terry was doing very well in the penalty box but he was a threat more in the West Brom penalty box than his own. He could have scored a couple of goals today but the chances were saved.

Branislav Ivanovic: 7.5/10

He didn’t have to defend much during the game so he was on a rampage on the right flank throughout the game, his final ball wasn’t the best but he was a tank on the right flank.

Nemanja Matic: 7/10

The Serb was deployed as a destroyer but he didn’t have much to do today, he did pass the ball around a lot more than usual.

Cesc Fabregas: 7/10

Fabregas had an ok game for Chelsea, he didn’t wow anyone with his performance but a rather workmanlike showing from the Spaniard was good enough today.

Willian: 6/10

Spent the afternoon tirelessly working to get the ball back. Willian showed why Jose rates him so highly which is because of his work ethic, didn’t really do anything spectacular but was an important clog for the team.

Oscar: 7/10

The Brazilian may not be the star of the team but his work does not go unnoticed. It was his quickly taken corner which helped Eden Hazard score the second goal for Chelsea.

Eden Hazard: 8/10

A speedy, tricky winger with an eye for goal, Eden showed how good he is by terrorising the West Brom defence in the first half and was rewarded with a goal in the second half.

Diego Costa: 8/10

Goal scoring Beast from Spain has done it again. Costa got yet another goal but he was brilliant throughout the game, he should have probably gotten a couple more goals in the game.

Substitutes

Loic Remy: 5/10

The good news is that the Frenchman got to play after coming back from injury; he didn’t really do much in the game and still looks a little rusty.

Didier Drogba: 5.5/10

More of a crowd pleaser, Drogba enjoyed his time on the field, even though he couldn’t score in the game.

Ramires: 3/10

Came on with 2 minutes left in the game, didn’t have time to get a touch.
