Chelsea Player Ratings vs Leicester – Magical Display From Courtois

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Leicester

The Blues beat Leicester and grabbed their second win in the league after an impressive second half performance, as we saw a satisfied Roman Abramovic from the VIP seats. Chelsea were lackluster in a goalless first half and were totally in control in the second half to mark a good victory and start to the Premier League. Here are the ratings for the players.

Thibaut Courtois (Man of the Match)

There has been a lot said about Thibaut Courtois since his arrival at Chelsea in 2011. Highly rated, the young goalkeeper looks set to take over as the Chelsea No.1 in a few years, assuming Chelsea can fend off interest from some of Europe’s best clubs. Recent reports from Spain and England suggest that both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are preparing bids, as well as current loan club Athletico Madrid. With such demand, and praise coming from the continent over, the Belgian seems to be fast-tracking his development somewhat. Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois-one of Europe’s finest?

He had an exceptionally great game today. He made a good number of saves and collected the ball flawlessly. His one on one save against Nugent was spectacular. His distribution was top notch. He repaid the faith his manager has in him. Magical display.

Rating: 5/5

Branislav Ivanovic

The Serb put a solid defensive performance throughout but was rather ineffective while attacking in the first half. He then picked up momentum and started marauding in the second half making crucial contributions to offense as well as defense.

Rating: 4/5

Gary Cahill

A strong defensive performance especially when we consider Leicester bombarding crosses into the box. He was at ease during the match and was always assured.

Rating: 3/5

John Terry

The skipper had a good game. He made one clean standing tackle against Mahrez which was delightful to watch. His organization and leadership was as good as always.

Rating: 3/5

Cesar Azpilicueta

Had a very strong game overall. He enjoyed the tussle against Mahrez’s trickery. His defending was always strong while his work rate was exceptional. He also offered more in offense in the second half.

Rating: 3.5/5

Cesc Fabregas

Enjoyed the second half better as he had more space around him. His passing and presence in the middle gave Chelsea good control over the game in the second half. He also assisted Hazard’s goal.

Rating: 3.5/5

Nemanja Matic

He had a decent game but was responsible for giving away possession cheaply and in dangerous areas on a couple of occasions. Overall, a very strong figure in midfield.

Rating: 3/5

Oscar

He had a rough first half but a very good second one. He immediately got into the frame of things in the second half as Chelsea started attacking better as his shot hit the post.

Rating: 3/5

Eden Hazard

He had a forgettable first half as he barely managed to make an impact but he was the spark of the attack in the next half. He also grabbed the goal that put the game to rest.

Rating: 4/5

Andre Schurrle

He had a decent game and he drew a lot of fouls. He had some shots on goal but none were too productive. His movement was top notch along with his chemistry.

Rating: 3/5

Diego Costa

He scored on his Stamford Bridge debut with a poacher’s goal. He tries his best to trouble the centre backs and worked hard. He’d definitely improve by facing tough challenges like these.

Rating: 3.5/5

Ramires,Willian, Drogba: They came on as subs to freshen up the team. Willian was particularly lively as he dribbled and attacked well.
