Chelsea Player Ratings vs Hull City – Routine Win For The Blues

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Hull City

Chelsea huffed and puffed to a comfortable 2-0 win over Hull City. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa scored the goals for Chelsea and got them back to winning ways in the Premier League after their 2-1 loss to Newcastle last week.

Hazard

Chelsea gave a first league start to Petr Cech who impressed in goal even though he didn’t really have much to do. Gary Cahill was a lucky man to stay on the pitch due to a tough tackle and a dive in the box but Chelsea’s job became much easier when Tom Huddlestone was sent off with 30 minutes for a high challenge on Felipe Luis.

Here are the player ratings for the Chelsea team

Petr Cech: 6.5/10

Did not look out of his depth and was extremely comfortable in goal, Chelsea have a very good number two in place of Courtois and Cech did himself no harm in his attempt to stake claim to the number one goalkeeper slot.

Branislav Ivanovic: 7.5/10

The tank was marauding up and down the right flank for Chelsea. He wasn’t required all that much to defend and was very good in attack down the right side.

Gary Cahill: 6/10

The Englishman was lucky to escape a red card when he tackled Aluko and then was lucky when he did not get booked a second time for a dive in the box.

John Terry: 8/10

A brilliant performance by the captain, he played like the leader he is and looked in exceptional touch. He did not allow any Hull striker any room to do much and was probably the best defender on the field.

Felipe Luis: 6.5/10

The left back was lucky he did not get seriously injured by Huddlestone’s tackle, didn’t do much wrong in the game.

John Obi Mikel: 6.5/10

Fabregas was suspended for the game and this allowed Mikel to start for the blues, he did a decent job partnering the ever impressive Matic in the centre of midfield.

Nemanja Matic: 8/10

The rock in the heart of the Chelsea midfield, he must be the first name in the team sheet for the Blues. Matic was brilliant in breaking up a lot of the Hull attacks and had a very good game.

Willian: 6.5/10

The Brazilian had another workmanlike game; he was booked in the game for a dive though which isn’t something you want to see in the game.

Oscar: 7.5/10

His cross for Eden Hazard to score the first goal was magnificent, had a good game to boot.

Eden Hazard: 9/10

Scored the first goal of the game with a great header and was also set up the goal for Diego Costa to score and seal the game, a man of the match performance by the Belgian.

Diego Costa: 8/10

The Spanish star showed just how good and bad he is, he scored the second goal for Chelsea but was also booked for a dive.

Substitutes:

Didier Drogba: 6/10

Came on in the 78th minute in place of Oscar, didn’t do much in the game but was a threat in the air.

Andre Schurrle: 5.5/10

The German came on in place of Willian in the 80th minute and did alright for the remainder of the game.

Ramires: 5/10

Was brought on to replace the impressive Mikel but didn’t have a lot of time to make an impact in the game.
