Thanks to the late winner scored by Willian because of which Chelsea’s 7 points lead over their fellow title rivals Manchester City is still intact. It was a very entertaining game with Chelsea attacking with their hearts out and Howard making many superman saves. This was one of those cases where the whole team gave a top notch performance. Eden Hazard, Willian, Matic, Zouma and Cech were among the stand out performers. Here’s the ratings of Chelsea players based on their performance versus the Toffees.
Petr Cech – 8.2/10
It was a 10th consecutive clean sheet for Cech at the bridge. The big man was outrageous between the sticks, made some important saves, dealt with every corner and set piece wisely. Without Cech Chelsea would have conceded at least 2-3 goals.
Branislav Ivanovic – 7.0/10
It was another great performance by the big man. He was very much noticeable in attack, while strong and dependable in defense.
John Terry – 6.7/10
Terry was solid but was rarely put to task by Everton. However, he was the main reason why Zouma played so well. He made some good tackles, was strong in air and also attempted two shots inside the six yard box.
Kurt Zouma – 7.5/10
Another impressive performance by this world beater as he made Everton attackers look like boys. His contribution in defense guided by Terry was dazzling. Attempted many tackles, made 5 clearances and was strong during set pieces. Game after game he is proving why he deserves to start over Cahill.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7.2/10
It was yet another trademark performance of keeping the attackers under control and this time Lennon and Coleman were under his pockets. The Spaniard contributed in attack as well.
Nemanja Matic – 7.7/10
The Serbian bull dozer owned the whole pitch, had Barry and Barkley in his pockets and almost scored a goal which was ruled offside.
Ramires – 6.8/10
Was very industrious but with no end product and not as effective as Fabregas in attack. Defensively he was very sound also ceased some counter attacks.
Juan Cuadrado – 7.0/10
It was a very impressive debut from Cuadrado. He put in some dangerous shots, created a few chances also delivered a few successful crosses. He can put either Willian’s or Oscar’s position in jeopardy.
Willian – 8.0/10
Another solid performance by the samba man, he was very hard working, was seen all over the pitch thanks to the freedom given to him by Cuadrado and finally broke the deadlock by a deflected winner in the 89th minute.
Eden Hazard – 8.7/10 (MOTM)
Its him again, another mesmerizing performance by the Belgian maestro. He never stopped running, was a threat for the entire 90 minutes, and created many chances for his teammates. Hazard was involved in almost every build up play and also took some shots on goal which were either blocked or saved by Howard.
Loic Remy – 6.9/10
Great movements, good pace, added momentum in the game and initiated some counter attacks, but he was not a real threat in front of the goal.
Substitutes
Didier Drogba – 6.0/10
Was brought on in the 70th minute but was just average.
Cesc Fabregas – 6.3/10
Was brought on in order to change the game, but he could not fulfill the expectations. His passes were pin point but no end product.
Gary Cahill – N/A
