A matured and a controlled performance from Chelsea ensured they went to the top of the table after a 2-0 win away win against Hull City. Eden Hazard opened scoring in the second half with a stupendous strike from outside the box before Fernando Torres doubled the lead late on with a majestic finish with his weaker left foot.

Peter Cech: The Czech International was called twice into action in the first half and made saves on both occasions from El Mohamady and Jake Livermore. Cech was also lucky that Sagbo couldn’t get his shooting boots rights after being gifted the ball in the penalty box when it appeared easier to score than miss.

Ashley Cole: The English International provided nothing of great substance in the left flank. However, provided the assist for Hazard’s sublime finish with a lovely outside lay off just outside the penalty box. Did struggle against El Mohamedy’s pacy bursts but did his job overall.

Gary Cahill: Initially struggled to come at pace with Hull’s tactical setup. Was undone by Sagbo’s dominating presence up front but did well containing him in the second half. Cahill, however was unlucky to receive a yellow card for a handball after it appeared that the ball came off his shoulder.

John Terry: Was guilty of gifting the ball to Sagbo inside the penalty box in the first half, however the Hull striker smashed his shot wide of goal with Cech at his mercy. Terry however did put in a determined performance to earn a clean sheet and three points for his side.

Cesar Azpilicueta: The Spaniard again was immaculate in the right back position and displayed enormous stamina and a superb work rate throughout the match. His crossing skills too has improved with each passing game.

David Luiz: The Brazilian was deployed in the central midfield role but struggled in the first half. Under Rafa Benitez, Luiz shined in front of his defence playing in the centre of the park, but couldn’t provide anything significant today. Did make the goalkeeper work twice with two swerving free kicks but couldn’t find the target.

Ramires: The Brazilian too was way off colour in the middle of the park. Worked hard though and helped Chelsea protect their lead and drive forward when needed.

Eden Hazard: Electrifying, energetic and enthusiastic throughout the match, Hazard again demonstrated why he is so important to Chelsea with his immaculate finish from just outside the penalty box area. What more do you need when you have someone who can draw fouls and change the pace of the game as willingly as the Belgian. He scores when he wants.

Oscar: An off day for Chelsea’s number ten, missed an easy chance as McGregor saved immaculately from point blank range. Going by his standards, he was way off color.

Willian: Talking of stats the Brazilian was immaculate throughout the match and is providing quite a buy for Mourinho. A controlled performance from Willian and demonstrated why Chelsea have more than one match winner in their armour.

Fernando Torres: The Spaniard reminded that the player he was once, still lurks inside him. Torres worked very hard and scored at the end with a majestic finish with his weaker left foot. The Spaniard collected the ball from Willian and raced towards the defenders to ensure his team’s win at the KC Stadium.
