Chelsea offloading £120,000-a-week star to the La Liga would be nothing but a blunder by Sarri – agreed?

Chelsea opinion: Should the Blues sell Willian to Barcelona?

According to a report from the Telegraph, Barcelona are considering a move for Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian in the summer. The Catalans have been heavily linked with Willian over the last two transfer windows but failed to convince Chelsea to let him go.

But with just over a year left on his contract, Barcelona are looking to sign him on a cut-price deal in the summer.

The report reveals that the Blues rejected a massive £55million bid last summer and also a cash-plus-Malcolm offer in January. Chelsea should do that yet again in the summer.

Willian has been one of Chelsea’s most influential players over the last 4 seasons and letting him leave would be a massive mistake on the Blues’ part in the summer. Willian has featured regularly this season under Maurizio Sarri and has contributed 8 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.

The 30-year old’s pace and dribbling skills are valuable assets to Chelsea and his importance will massively increase if they were to lose players in the summer.

Eden Hazard has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer, with Real Madrid looking like the likely destination.

Young Callum Hudson-Odoi has also been rumoured to leave the Blues in the upcoming summer transfer window with Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Liverpool both said to have an interest in the teenager.

Losing both of their star wingers will be a massive blow for the Blues and losing Willian along with them could potentially cost them the season especially due to their inability to sign replacements.

FIFA’s imposition of a transfer ban on Chelsea could cause a ton of problems to their attack in the summer and Chelsea should at no cost sell Willian in the summer.

Willian’s experience and leadership will have a massive impact on Chelsea’s squad and also on the young Christian Pulisic who will arrive in the summer.

Pulisic can learn a huge lot from Willian about wing play in the Premier League and his guidance will be invaluable for the American sensation.

Willian also has a proven record of scoring and assisting goals in the Premier League and he can be the main man for the Blues if Eden Hazard does leave in the summer.

Conclusion

Chelsea should reject all advances from Barcelona for Willian in the summer and they should seriously consider extending his contract at the club beyond the end of next season.

The £120,000-a-week Brazilian would play a massive part in the Blues’ title hopes in the coming seasons and keeping him is a no-brainer, especially because of the transfer ban.
