Why Chelsea Does Not Need This Most Wanted La Liga Star Right Now

The winter transfer window is around the corner and right now, many teams are planning their January purchases, as this next period of transfers appears like one of the most exciting in the last couple of seasons.

In the Premier League, most English teams will be trying to acquire as many good players as they can at the beginning of 2017. Even if their team is going through a great moment, both head coach and directives will try to shield their teams.

Since his arrival at Juventus, we could notice that Antonio Conte was a peculiar manager, as the Italian boss is always trying to improve his team, even if it is the best one in the league or if it’s going through it’s best moment in the decade.

That’s why he has been a successful manager since he started managing his favourite team, and now he wants to bring the same joy to London, in one of the most popular English clubs – Chelsea.

Conte made big changes since he arrived in Chelsea (even putting away Chelsea’s captain and referent, John Terry) and as far as we know, these changes have been the best choices for the team, as they are the current Premier League leaders, despite their bad shape at the start of the season.

But Conte and his staff know that competition this year will be complicated, seeing the level of Chelsea’s persecutors, and now he will try to armour his team in order to reach Premier League’s trophy at the end of the season.

However Conte had a list of great purchases while he was in Juventus and now in his Chelsea journey, he also has had some failures at the time of buying players (Alessandro Matri could be the prime example of this) and if he does not change his mind about some players, Chelsea supporters could have a bad time the rest of the season, and who knows, for more ones coming.

Chelsea is reportedly interested in James Rodriguez, the Colombian gem who isn’t seeing plenty of minutes in his current team, Real Madrid. Despite the not so good moment of James, the Colombian is well known across Europe, and it is not a surprise that big teams like Chelsea are interested in acquiring his services. However, James is not the best option for Chelsea this next transfer window.

James Rodriguez is a very talented player, and although he can be a great addition to any team, he would not be the one to Conte’s. The Italian boss has developed a fast team during these months at Stamford Bridge, and the progress the players have made is tremendous. Real Madrid’s player is used to play with pause and calm, trying to have the football the most time possible, unlike Conte’s team which is a team with vertigo.

Besides, James couldn’t be a regular starter in Chelsea, as the “Blues” count with Eden Hazard who is having one of his best seasons with Chelsea since his arrival at London from Lille. Hazard owns the midfield of Chelsea, as he can move whether in the edges or in the centre of the field, therefore, is very unlikely that James will make a real impact in Chelsea.

Then, coming on to the other wing, where James could actually ply his trade at the Bridge, Chelsea already have two brilliant options in Pedro and Willian. So bringing James will congest the midfield and with no European football to play for, his signature makes no sense for the Blues. He is a great player without the slightest of doubt, but joining Chelsea is surely not a favourable situation right now.
