Do Chelsea Need This Serie A Sensational Striker In The January Window?

With 34 points from 14 games this season, Antonio Conte’s new adventure at the Stamford Bridge is off to a superb start this season as they sit top of the Premier League table, 3 points off Arsenal in the 2nd place in the points table. The manager has settled into a starting XI that is winning him games consistently and having failed to qualify for Europe and being knocked out of the League Cup, the Blues have very few games to worry about this season and this might help them go all the way come the end of the campaign.

Though there have been some brilliant individual performances from the squad, the manager is evidently unhappy with the squad at his disposal and is looking to add a few players in January. One such player who is now extensively linked with a move to the club is Italian sensation Andrea Pinamonti.

Now 17, the Inter Milan starlet is one of the most exciting prospects in domestic football in the country and Conte is not new to his exploits. In his time in Italy, Conte has helped the U19 striker to become an imposing goal scorer and it does not come as a surprise that Conte is now plotting to snap him up in January.

Known for his pace and dribbling abilities, the 17-year old has all the makings of a top class player and though he is yet to play a game outside the country, Conte is adamant that he can get the teenager to turn into a top class player at the Stamford Bridge and wants to sign him when the transfer window reopens. But do Chelsea really need a striker?

Yes, they have no world class replacement for Diego Costa on the bench and yes they have enough money to burn in the transfer market. But is that not why they spent on the Belgian youngster Michy Batshuayi. Conte had a chance to select the striker he wanted and he chose the Belgian early in the summer and it comes as a surprise that he wants to add yet another player, who will take some time to make it into the first team.

Michy Batshuayi is slowly getting the hold of things at the club and if he is not going to be given enough chances, he will turn out to be one of the many players that stay in the fringes of the team for years to come.

Chelsea already have a plethora of players in their academy with as many 39 players out on loan this season. At 17, Pinamonti will surely not jump into the first team in place of Costa and taking him to the Bridge in the middle of the season makes no sense. Yes, Chelsea might lose the league’s top scorer for a couple of games in the 24 remaining, but Pinamonti is not the answer and it is a move that will only spoil the youngster’s career.

What Chelsea need is a player of Antoine Griezmann’s calibre and if they have what it takes to lure him out of Spain, they are advised to do whatever it takes. A player of that calibre is what Chelsea lacks and is the kind of an addition that can help the side take the next step but Pinamonti? Well, that is a move that can only be pulled off by the cash-rich clubs in the league.

Do you think Chelsea need a striking addition in January?
