Chelsea need not worry about Hazard if they beat Arsenal to sign this 20-year-old sensation

Why Chelsea should beat Arsenal to the signing of Ismaila Sarr

Chelsea have made a supreme start to life under new manager Maurizio Sarri, with the Blues having gone unbeaten in the league so far. The London club are surely one of the favourites to lift the title at the end of the season and will also be aiming to get back into the Champions League.

The Blues have signed a couple of players to strengthen their squad over the summer but they could use at least one or two more in order to compete on all fronts. According to the Sun, Arsenal are lining up a bid for Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr. The Gunners have been linked with the Senegalese international after his impressive performances for club and country over the last year.

But at this point, it seems right for Chelsea to swoop in and make a bid of their own. The Blues’ strikers are yet to find their scoring boots this season and are struggling to find the back of the net. Chelsea’s talisman Eden Hazard has also been continually linked with Real Madrid and should he decide to make the move, Sarri would need a replacement.

Ismaila Sarr

This is where the Senegalese prodigy comes in. He has been making a name for himself over the last year and is one of the hottest young prospects in Europe. Aged just 20, the Rennes attacker has shown immense potential and maturity in his displays.

The youngster also managed to turn a number of heads with his inspirational performances for Senegal at the World Cup. Though he failed to register a goal or an assist, Sarr was a major part of their offensive setup.

He is a versatile attacker who is capable of playing in a number of positions across the frontline. Generally deployed on the right flank, Sarr is also comfortable playing on the left. He has also flourished playing as a lone striker during his time with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Sarr has made a total of 8 appearances in the French league this season, scoring 2 goals. He has also picked up 1 goal in 1 Europa League appearance. If Eden Hazard does decide to leave London, Chelsea would need a player to replicate his performances in terms of goals and assists. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)
