After ‘fiscal reasons’ led another attempt to re-sign Kaká collapse, Berlusconi and co are now eyeing another washed up, already over the moon former superstar and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
So why would Milan make this move? Despite AC Milan chief Galliani saying that Milan’s targets have to be in the 20-24 age range, the main objective highlighted by both him and Berlusconi is that – Get into the top 3 in Italy and land a Champions League spot. This is one of the best advertising tools to land new young talent. And the thought that AC Milan will be out of the European competitions for at-least another 2 seasons is one that makes even the neutral fans feel pity on the Italian giants.
According to reports, Didier Drogba is set to reject interest from the Premier League and other clubs and sign for AC Milan after a brief 6 month spell in China. The Ivorian is currently at the African Cup of Nations playing for his country, Ivory Coast, and Milan are keen to tie up a deal in this window.
Head coach Allegri told Sky Italia:
“Champions of his (Drogba) calibre are very welcome. Galliani will know if the deal is feasible.
“I’m calm, the club is just thinking about what could help us out and what we could do about it.”
“A player like Drogba would certainly improve both the technical level and self-esteem of the team. We’ll see what the club are able to do, otherwise we’ll carry on as we are, looking to have a good second half of the season because that is our objective.
“It will be difficult, though, because we still have to face some teams with a high level of technical quality.”
