Chelsea Latest Including: Eto’o And Mata

Eto

Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has been vocal against latest Chelsea recruit Samuel Eto’o. Carlos has been a teammate of Eto’o at both Real Madrid and Anzhi and now the 40 year old former left back has made some controversial statements about Eto’o.

“Samuel Eto’o did everything at Anzhi bar actually playing football,” mentioned Carlos. “He wanted to control the club, and to take both my place and that of the coach Guus Hiddink.  He is a good person… but he always thinks of himself and not about the team.”

Chelsea fans might remember the infamous quote once said by Eto’o “I’d rather sell groundnuts (peanuts) in my village than to play for a pathetic team like Chelsea.” back in 2004 when Mourinho was revolutionizing the Blues and the striker started to play for Barcelona. The duo then went on to work together at Inter and have finally joining hands again after three years. And this time around the Cameroonian explained that Mou was the reason that he took a £12 million a year pay cut to join the Blues.

After missing out on Wayne Rooney, Chelsea signed Eto’o on a one year deal in the summer to accompany Demba Ba and Fernando Torress in the frontline. The 32-year old striker has previously played under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan and the Chelsea fans would hope that he would fill in the goals this season which were not being done by the two existing strikers.

Mata deserves his nomaination

In other news, it is being believed that Barcelona are looking to seal a deal for Chelsea star Juan Mata in January. The Spanish player has been the best player at Chelsea for the past two seasons, but now after the arrival of Jose Mourinho he has not been given adequate opportunities to play. This has apparently interested the Catalan giants for a transfer of one of the best playmakers of the modern era. Although it is said that injuries and match fitness are the reason behind Mata’s bench time, Mundo Deportivo states that it may be as early as January when he heads to the Catalan giants.

The 25 year old still insists that he is still willing to stay at the club at the club and fight for his place amid the unrest. But even manager Jose Mourinho has stated that there have been some unrest with the player.

Not only the Spanish giants, English clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham have also displayed their interest in Mata and it would certainly be a bidding war in January with him being the centre of attraction.
