Chelsea going around the transfer ban to complete a deal for 24-year-old star would be a masterstroke by Sarri

Chelsea opinion: Blues with a chance to extend Kovacic’s loan – good move?

The Sun has reported that Chelsea have a chance to go around their transfer ban by re-signing Mateo Kovacic to another loan deal. While the 24-year-old hasn’t had the best campaign so far for the Blues, the sheer fact that they lack midfielders makes this move a great one.

Moreover, the Croatian has found a fan in Maurizio Sarri. The Chelsea manager believes that the Real Madrid man has a great future at the club and that is something the Blues need to make sure happens.

On his day, Kovacic has the ability to be the best player on the pitch. Barring Eden Hazard, fewer Chelsea players have had as big an impact as the Croatian.

He’s got more key passes than half of Chelsea’s team, he has more dribbles than all but three stars, more tackles per game than all but five players. This is despite the fact that Kovacic has only made 20 starts for the club this season in the Premier League.

That puts him on the bottom rung of Sarri’s usual suspects, which showcases his ability. With more game time, that will only improve Kovacic’s ability, especially as Chelsea learn and adjust to Maurizio Sarri’s tactics on a full-time basis.

The former Napoli boss has managed work wonders at his previous sides but it hasn’t happened at Stamford Bridge. While Eden Hazard is on his way to a career-best total for both goals and assists, the rest of the Chelsea team are still stuck in limbo.

Hopefully, that should change and with their upcoming transfer embargo, adding someone as talented as Mateo Kovacic would change that. He clearly has no future at Real Madrid and has already revealed that he wants to stay at Chelsea for the foreseeable future (Football Espana).

His presence combined with Christian Pulisic’s arrival in the summer could change things for the Blues. However, if they do get hit by the transfer embargo, which at the moment looks very likely, their current squad will have to step up their game.

Conclusion

Mateo Kovacic has the potential to do great things for Chelsea and another loan spell at the club will only help the Croatian to grow and improve his abilities.

Under Maurizio Sarri, he will only help improve the team, especially alongside the likes of Christian Pulisic, Willian, and Jorginho.
