Chelsea FC: So How Good Is Marco van Ginkel?

Share

Its really surprising to see Chelsea’s transfer policy this summer. The manager who has till now vouched for only big names for any club that he managed, has suddenly roped in two talented youngsters. Within days after bringing in Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen, Mourinho has now signed highly rated Dutch youngster Marco Van Ginkel from Vitesse. The Guardian believes that the deal has been completed for just £8m, a sum which could prove to be extremely shrewd as the season progresses.

Frank Lampard has been a tremendous server for Chelsea over the years and he is rightfully considered as a club legend by fans and management alike. But it is high time that Chelsea starts to prepare someone else for that role, keeping in mind that the veteran may not be far off from parting ways with the club. In this regard, Van Ginkel can be the ideal solution and he has all the potential to step into the shoes of Lampard, as and when he decides to hang his boots up.

Van Ginkel has been a sensation for his club in the past couple of seasons and had tremendous impact on the club. The midfielder has scored eight goals himself and has made another eight assists, highlighting the importance of the player in the attacking set up. The 20-year old is blessed with an appropriate physique and should have no problem getting adjusted to the fast pace nature of the English Premier League.

For the past three seasons, his name has been one of the first in the team lineup and thus he has featured for his team more than 90 times at such a tender age. He has also been capped once for the national side in last November against Germany. Van Ginkel, or  The Baby Faced Killer, as he is known as, is famous for his creativity, his vision and his precise passing and can be a great asset for the club.

Although, he may not get too much opportunity at the very beginning, gradually he could turn out to be one of the most important players to don the Blues transfer.

If you haven’t seen the man in action, I highly recommend you to watch this video. Yes, its a YouTube video and anyone can be made to look good, but Van Ginkel has something in him, probably a little of everything that differentiates from others.
