Chelsea FC – 3 Players Worth Looking At For The January Window

Three players Chelsea can choose from in this January Transfer Window

Jose Mourinho under pressure at Madrid

Despite a terrific start to Jose Mourinho’s homecoming, there have been few stutters to Chelsea’s 2013-14 Campaign. There is a new sense of optimism flowing at Stamford Bridge with renewed belief that they can be the Champions once again. However I have a feeling that Mourinho still doesn’t know what his best eleven is. So come this January there are perhaps three players the Blues can scout who can fire them to the EPL Crown. The 0-2 loss against the Magpies today doesn’t necessarily fuel the need to add some depth but it feels good to talk about transfers, doesn’t it?

In defence Chelsea have played a high line thanks to Mourinho’s tactics preferring captain John Terry and David Luiz ahead of Gary Cahill in the heart of defence. While Ivanovic has primarily played at right back rotating with Azpilicueta, Chelsea need a centre back for which someone like Ezequiel Garay is the perfect fit. The Argentine is strong in the air, a threat at set pieces and is a no nonsense centreback who will add to the Blues’s defensive prowess.

In midfield however if there is any indication, they need a destroyer in the middle of the pitch. Though Lampard has been drafted with Ramires in the centre they need a defensive midfielder someone like Khedira who fits the bill perfectly. The German has exquisite passing ability and has the eye for that perfect pass. Moreover he is brilliant at ball retention albeit his phenomenal ball distribution. Mourinho has great contacts at Real and with money at his disposal Khedira would be a tempting option to look at.

Up front the rejuvenation of Torres will be something worth cherishing but for me he is still in the shadow of the player he was at Liverpool which perhaps still lurks inside him. Demba Ba has rarely played and Eto’o looks past his sell by date. Thus they need an out and out number nine who can turn the game on its head. So perhaps Chelsea with all their financial capability can pull off a major coup in Radamel Falcao who is sure to leave French side Monaco after barely six months since his Mega transfer from Athletico Madrid.
