Chelsea Dream XI Next Season – Diego Costa To Spearhead The Attack

Chelsea have enormous depth in their side, but still they are not a complete side. They need one or two signings in Summer, especially a clinical/physical striker who will make this Chelsea side a formidable one in Europe.

Chelsea Dream XI Next Season

Goal Keeper And Defense

1. Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois

There has been a lot said about Thibaut Courtois since his arrival at Chelsea in 2011. Highly rated, the young goalkeeper looks set to take over as the Chelsea No.1 in a few years, assuming Chelsea can fend off interest from some of Europe’s best clubs. Recent reports from Spain and England suggest that both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are preparing bids, as well as current loan club Athletico Madrid. With such demand, and praise coming from the continent over, the Belgian seems to be fast-tracking his development somewhat. Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois-one of Europe’s finest?

It would be any Chelsea fan’s dream to have the Belgian shot stopper playing as the first choice keeper next season. There have been a lot of rumors about Courtois wanting a permanent move to Atletico if Chelsea can’t guarantee him first team football. There have also been rumors of a swap deal involving him and his Atleti team-mate Diego Costa.

Despite all rumors, the dream would be to have the world’s best young goal keeper and arguably among the top 5 keepers in the world overall, to play as Chelsea no.1 giving some tough and real competition to legend PetrCech.

2. Right Back: Cesar Azpilicueta

This season, Azpilicueta’s defending has been a revelation. The pace, the stamina and his work rate in defense made Mourinho play him at his unflavored left back position instead of the regular first choice Ashley Cole for most part of the season. By now it is obvious that the Spaniard has adapted to Mourinho’s ways of coaching and his demands. Cesar Azpilicueta will add more quality as a right back as he would have better quality going forward as he can cross better than BranislavIvanovic. The Serbian will have very tough competition from the Spaniard, despite having a good season himself.

3. Center Back: Gary Cahill

Cahill has put in his heart and soul in the defense this year and has cherished life alongside Captain John Terry. Steadily developing into a tactician, Gary Cahill has quickly learnt how to organize a defense together with Terry. Cahill’s rise from a substitute to David Luiz to a regular first choice under Mourinho is commendable. He has been one of the reasons why Chelsea have the best defensive record in the Premier League this season.

4. Center Back: Kurt Zouma

The young French defender is a very promising player with an incredible physical built tailor made for the Premier League. John Terry has clearly shown signs of ageing especially in the past few games as he was tormented by sheer pace. With younger Zouma in the team, Chelsea defense will have the legs to stop counter attacks, the way David Luiz used to do under Rafael Benitez.

Despite that John Terry is expected to be here for at least one more season as club captain. But it is tough to not have Zouma playing first team football. Mourinho has shown that he has an eye for a defensive player as he brought in young Raphael Varane into a star studded Real Madrid starting line-up replacing Pepe. Varane did an excellent job in stopping Lionel Messi.

5. Left Back: Luke Shaw

Chelsea are need of a long term quality left-back and are targeting Southampton’s prodigy Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw admitting that he’s a Chelsea fan has made the Blues favourites to land him. Finance is not an issue for the Blues as they are willing to offer any reasonable transfer fee demanded by Southampton.

18 year old Luke Shaw has the stamina, pace and resilience to play in any top team. He has already played as a first choice left-back for Southampton in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons proving him in the league. Under Chelsea, he has only one way to go and that is towards growth.

Chelsea have made him one of their priorities as Shaw looks forward for a World Cup place. A hefty bid from the Blues would be tough to ignore and Shaw is expected to become the traditional Left-Back that the Blues wanted.
