Chelsea should definitely hijack Manchester United’s move for Gareth Bale
According to the Express, Chelsea have shown a keen interest in Real Madrid star Gareth Bale over the last few days. Blues’ talisman Eden Hazard has been on the Blancos’ radar for a while now and should the Belgian decide to make the move, Chelsea would need a new man to replace him.
The report suggests that Premier League giants Manchester United are also in the hunt for Gareth Bale. The Red Devils have continually been linked with the Welshman over the last few seasons but a move has always failed to materialise. (Express)
Chelsea should definitely beat their close rivals to the signing of the former Spurs star, who currently earns $15m-a-year. New manager Maurizio Sarri has made a fresh start to life in the Premier League, with the Blues being unbeaten in their opening 8 games of the season.
The London club will be competing on all fronts and would be hoping to make it back to the Champions League next season. They could really use a man like Gareth Bale in their ranks. Given that Eden Hazard is their top scorer this season, the Blues are going to need an ideal replacement if the Belgian leaves London in the summer.
In Gareth Bale, Maurizio Sarri will have a proven Premier League goalscorer. The Real Madrid attacker was once one of the most potent threats in England before making the move to Santiago Bernabeu.
The 29-year-old scored a total of 42 goals and provided 20 assists in 146 league appearances for Tottenham Hotspur. The Welshman also picked up the PFA player of the season in the 2012/13 campaign. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)
The Chelsea strikers have also failed to make a significant impact this season and that is another dilemma Bale can solve. He is extremely prolific in front of the goal and is known for his ability to score from anywhere on the field.
Bale has already scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 7 La Liga appearances this season. He was also sensational in Madrid’s Champions League final win over Liverpool last season, as the Welshman scored two sublime goals to hand the Blancos their third successive European trophy.
