When Chelsea won the title last year everyone praised the team for their solid defending, creative midfield and ruthless attack. However, the same team has disappointed this season, to put it mildly. Hanging just above the relegation zone with a point’s lead, Jose Mourinho seems to be out of ideas to inject energy and creativity into the team organically.
It comes as not surprise that Chelsea had bid for Marco Veratti, who is also an interest of Arsenal if Mundo Deportivo are to be believed. The Catalan newspaper has reported that the bid however, has been rejected by the player due to his wish to move to Italian or Spanish league.
If the player chooses to move to Spanish league it is known that Barcelona are very much interested. With Paul Pogba a long time interest of PSG, if the French midfielder happen to move to Paris, a sale of Veratti to Barcelona is a real possibility. Seen as a replacement for Xavi, given his technical ability, the Italian is said to be interested in a move to Barcelona as well.
