Chelsea, Arsenal And Few Surprise Choices Feature In The EPL Team Of The Week For Gameweek 19

EPL Team of the Gameweek 19: Stars who sizzled this weekend

Yet another game week and the last of this year as we witnessed some exhilarating football out on display. Arsenal clawed their back to the zenith of the table with a narrow but important 1-0 away win against Newcastle at the Sports Direct Arena while Manchester City are a close second just two points behind after a hard earned 1-0 win at home against struggling Crystal Palace.  Chelsea handed Liverpool their second defeat in as many games while Everton returned to winning ways with a well taken 2-1 win over Southampton. Manchester United won too, by a stroke of luck at Carrow Road against a determined Norwich side while Tottenham brushed aside Stoke by a 3-0 margin.

With 2013 now a distant memory of all the Premier League action, here we provide you the team of the game week from this weekend’s excruciating action on the pitch.

Goalkeeper: David De Gea

David De Gea: The Flying Spaniard has been having a much impressive time

The Spaniard makes the cut in our team thanks to two magnificent saves he put in to earn a well deserved clean sheet at Carrow Road. Peter Cech too deserves the plaudits for keeping Liverpool at bay, but the Red Devils keeper just edges the Czech International albeit his magnificent saves to keep his side in the clash where they could ill afford to drop points.

Defenders:

Sheamus Coleman:

The Irishman and Evertonian Coleman walks his way into our side without a stroke of doubt. The full back was magnificent throughout the match and his piledriver of a finish left the Southampton keeper bewildered. Mathieu Debuchy was a close call for the full back role but we felt Coleman edged it thanks to his goal.

Gary Cahill:

Instrumental in Chelsea’s win over Liverpool, Gary Cahill is one of our centre back choice. The Englishman time and again kept Luis Suarez quiet with a dominant and commanding performance.

Per Mertesacker:

Mertesacker

The tall and lanky German is making a name for himself in the Arsenal squad with his brilliant defending consistently for the last few weeks. Much like Cahill, it was Mertesacker who took the role to keep Loic Remy quite at the Sports Direct Arena.

Ben Davies:

Swansea’s Ben Davies is a familiar figure in Wales and the more he plays his reputation will enhance. Swansea haven’t had the best of campaigns so far this Premier League season but Davies was a constant threat and a live wire against Villa on Sunday.
