Chelsea Opinion: Blues must sell off outcast Bakayoko to the Rossoneri

According to a report from Calcio Mercato, AC Milan are preparing a move to sign a French midfield giant Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent basis from Chelsea. He has impressed during the 2nd part of his loan spell at the San Siro this season.

Tiemoue Bakayoko is a French international, who currently plies his trade for AC Milan in the Serie A on loan from Chelsea. He is a 24-year-old midfield destroyer who excels in a two-man midfield system with someone alongside to support him and pick up loose balls.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

A product of the Stade Rennais academy which has produced some amazing talents over the years, Bakayoko was drafted into the first team at the Ligue 1 side at the start of the 13/14 season.

He was touted be a massive talent right from a young age and he showed excellent maturity on the ball whenever he was utilised by the first team. His composure and calmness on the ball set him apart as a top quality talent which earned him a regular place in the Rennes squad.

Motivated by his excellent displays for the Ligue 1 side over the campaign, he was signed by Monaco at the start of the 14/15 season. He really flourished in the red and white stripes and was part of an excellent project that was taking off at the French club.

Pushed forward by new money, the ambitions that were displayed by the club were backed up by all of the players. Bakayoko was one of the few who really prospered during Monaco’s highly successful Ligue 1 season.

He showcased amazing quality on the ball all season and was easily one of the best midfielders in the league that season. His movement and strength in the central areas allowed the effective application of Leonardo Jardim’s tactics.

This motivated a massive club like Chelsea to make a big money move for the French midfield commander but his time at Chelsea was riddled with silly individual errors and lacklustre displays in some crucial fixtures.

In 43 games for the Blues in all competitions, the Frenchman scored just 3 times and failed to impress the Chelsea faithful. He was unreliable with the ball at his feet and his passing ideas were often negative.

Chelsea currently possess an extremely strong midfield which boasts the likes of Ross Barkley, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and even Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Added to the presence of young Ethan Ampadu, that should be enough midfield cover for the Blues and they should let Bakayoko join Milan permanently in the summer.
