Chelsea Ace Mata Feels That Mourinho Can Replicate The Success He Had In Epl While Former Arsenal Left-Back Is Excited About The Madrid Clash

Mata deserves his nomaination

Amid rumours of being a part of a swap transfer deal with Wayne Rooney, Chelsea ace Juan Mata is confident of staying at Stamford Bridge this season. He had an impressive second season for the Blues and is looking forward to work with Jose Mourinho.

The Spain international, who has been a part of the World Cup and Euro Cup winning Spain squad, was transferred to Stamford Bridge from La Liga side Valencia in 2011. Since then, he has appeared 118 times for the Blues, scoring 32 goals and 59 assists. In his first two seasons at Chelsea, he has remained an integral part of the team that won the Champions League and Europa League back-to-back.

Speaking to the club website, Mata has been bold to express his importance in the club at this moment.

“Everyone wants to feel important for the club,” Mata said. I feel it, I’m very happy and enjoying training with the new manager, and I hope I can improve on the last two seasons.”

Adding to that, he has expressed his desire to work under new manager Jose Mourinho. Mata is quite hopeful to achieve similar successes that Mourinho won during his first tenure at Chelsea. From June 2004 to September 2007, Chelsea won back-to-back Barclays Premier League titles and numerous domestic cup competitions.

“We’re really looking forward to starting the season with him and we are all excited about it,” Mata added on the club’s official website. Jose did a really great job here a few years ago and I think that we can do it again.”

In other news, 32-year old England international Ashley Cole couldn’t hide his excitement before his career’s first ever Real Madrid clash. In a long and illustrious club career for Arsenal and Chelsea, Cole has played more than 550 matches but quite surprisingly, the veteran left back never faced the  Galacticos.

“It will be great to catch up with Carlo Ancelotti, who is a great guy. We loved working with him at Chelsea and hopefully he can have a good first season in Spain,” said the England defender.

“Real Madrid will be a huge test for us, they’re obviously one of the best teams in the world and I’ve had some good games withCristiano Ronaldo down the years, so I hope this will be another exciting match.”
