A Manchester united fan has been subject to trolls on twitter after he jumped the gun and tweeted about Manchester United’s progress into the knockout stage of the Champions League. A lesson learned for a fan of a team whose qualification into the knockout stage would be confirmed through victory in Germany.
United walked into the last game of Champions League knowing only a victory will guarantee a pass to the knockout stage. However, if CSKA were to beat PSV, Manchester United would go through as the second team from the table. On the fateful matchday, United were trailing Wolfsburg and CSKA had scored from a spot kick and taken the lead. This prompted the eager fan to conclude and tweet that Manchester United had secured their spot for the knockout stage. At this point United were in a tie with Wolfsburg while CSKA were leading till the remaining 12 minutes of the game.
United fan on the quickdraw happened to mention “CSKA Moscow 1-0 PSV, and PSV are down to ten men, we are through to the Champions League round of 16. Get in.” This later prompted replies and mockery from other football fans.

United now will be heading to the Europa league. While fans are not very excited for their team to be in this competition, this will probably be LVG’s good chance to bring a piece of silverware to Old Trafford for the first time.
