CFR Cluj 1-2 Manchester United – Player Ratings And Highlights

United came off with 3 points away from home thanks to a brace from Robin Van Persie. Here is a look at how the players fared last night

David De Gea: The goal he gave away could have been saved, though it is a difficult save the Spaniard could have tried more. Other than that made some good stops and looked confident when facing crosses 7/10.

Rafael: There was many doubts on the right back before the start of the season, but the right back has been impressive this season. Had a decent game yesterday, did his defensive duties perfectly but could have helped the attackers by going forward in a more regular intervals than he did. 7/10

Jonny Evans: Mistake from Evans led to the opening goal, the player gave far too much space to his opponent. Was subbed in the second half but put had a decent game overall 6/10.

Rio Ferdinand: Arguably could’ve gotten across for the Cluj goal and at times he didn’t command the defense as well as he normally does, but overall wasn’t too shabby and should never have received a yellow for clearing the ball 7/10

Patrice Evra: It is shocking that Evra is still able to find regular first team football. The French man was caught out of position, and it was his job to stop Moudou Sougou, who provided the cross for the first goal. Had a shocking first half but recovered well in the second half 5.5/10

Darren Fletcher: The Scottish skipper is still recovering from his time out of the game as he lacked a little match fitness 6/10

Tom Cleverley: From a disaster to a Scholes replacement, Cleverley has traveled a long distance since the beginning of last season. The player helped United to keep Possession in the middle of the park 7/10

Anderson:  Anderson at-times looks to be a brilliant passer but frustrates a lot with his cheap miss placed passing. The same was the case lash night, has to increase his fitness levels if he wants to get more playing time  6/10

Wayne Rooney. Just what the doctor ordered, wanted the ball constantly, looked for openings constantly, ran his heart out constantly, linked up with others constantly. The Scouse striker seems to be revelling in his deeper role and makes you wonder whether he can operate there all season. Who’d have thought a bit of gash would make Rooney a better player. Sorry, couldn’t resist it  8/10

Robin Van Persie: Best signing of the summer. Scored a brace and helped United to secure a much needed away win after defeat at home last weekend 8/10.

Chicharito: Not the best day for Chicharito, the striker saw the line man’s whistle blowing for offside than the opposition goal 5/10
