Celtic FC opinion: Hoops linked with Dylan Crowe – Good move?

According to a report in Football Scotland, Scottish treble winners Celtic are linked with a move for highly-rated young Ipswich Town right-back Dylan Crowe.

The 18-year-old has been on the radar of various English clubs over the past few months. German side RB Leipzig are also in the race, thanks to his appearances for the England U-17 side at last year’s European U-17 Championship. (h/t Football Scotland)

As per the report, Huddersfield made a bid of around £300,000 to acquire the services, but Ipswich turned down as they seek around £500,000 for the talented youngster.

It has been well-documented that Crowe is impressing many around Europe. His performances and development in the youth level are certainly heartening to see.

Here’s why Celtic should beat others in the signature of the 18-year-old during this transfer window:

The talented and versatile youngster could help the Hoops

Predominantly a right-back, Dylan Crowe can play in various positions across central midfield, preferably the box-to-box role. He is a fantastic ball-playing asset, who loves to drive forward, whether it be from full-back or the midfield.

Safe to say, the 18-year-old has impressed many around the Ipswich academy, chiefly due to the development of his game over the course of the last 12-15 months.

He also represents the England U-18 team, meaning the national youth team coaches also see him as one of the players who can play the senior in the coming years.

Celtic should make a move for the youngster, partly because he can provide good backup options at right-back and midfield in the senior team, and partly to enhance the quality of their youth team.

Conclusion

Hence, it is pretty clear that Hoops’ senior and youth team would benefit from having Dylan Crowe in their squad. For that reason, the club should make a bid this summer and sign him before any other club.
