Celtic FC Opinion: Should Celtic sign Charlie Allen?

According to a report from The Daily Record, Celtic target Charlie Allen won’t stay at Linfield for a long time.

The 15-year-old Irish prodigy, who is also being chased by the Hoops’ bitter rivals Rangers (h/t The Daily Record), has raised everyone’s’ eyebrows as he got included in Linfield’s Champions League qualifying squad against Rosenberg this week.

Allen broke into the Belfast outfit’s main team in the preseason friendlies against Scottish club Aberdeen and Motherwell and has earned 5 caps for Northern Ireland’s U17 team so far.

Besides the interest from the Light Blues, Allen is also on the transfer radar of Premier League elites like Tottenham, Leicester City and Manchester City (h/t The Daily Record).

Why the Celts should win the race to sign Allen?

Allen is a rare homegrown talent and can’t be missed at any instance. At Celtic Park, the Irish prodigy could evolve into a big star as the Hoops have forged many talents in the past.

The best example would be Karamoko Dembele, who broke into the Hoops’ main team aged just 16. Much like that, Allen could also be a part of the main team once he opts to move to Glasgow.

Having risen through the youth ranks of the Irish outfit, Allen would be put in the reserves ranks initially and a quick progression will yield him a place in the senior team soon.

James Forrest and Kieran Tierney are some of the players who got moulded in the Hoops’ youth academy and now, they are more prominent players. In fact, the latter has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Allen plays as a midfielder and is synonymous with various positions in the middle of the park.

Final Verdict

The Celts earlier sealed the deal of Bolton wonder kid Luca Connell and they must add the precious Allan, who is also billed from Ireland.
